Long rows of stones lining the
edges of once plowed fields tell of an investment of time and
labor which most of us can scarcely imagine. Generations of farm
families worked annually to clear their land of stones brought
to the surface by frost and plow. These cairns remain as unintended
monuments to the hard wok and dedication required of the entire
family in coaxing their livelihood from the soil... producing
what is absolutely essential to us all.
"Clearing the Field"
is my tribute to them.
